EMC compliance is a prerequisite for placing electrical / electronic devices on the market. Complete and recurring EMC tests in an absorber hall from the MHz to the GHz range are very time-consuming and, together with the cost of troubleshooting, product redesigns are extremely expensive. The following also applies here: “The later, the more expensive it becomes.” Repeat tests and their consequences for product acceptance can be significantly reduced if appropriate analyzes are carried out in good time using software tools and design rules are observed.
With the rule-based software EMI Scanner from ANSYS SIwave, the wired circuit board design is analyzed based on geometric design rules. Based on the rule sets, the software recognizes the most common and most serious causes of interference between signal lines, voltage areas and components, which can lead to critical electromagnetic interactions. Expert knowledge from the simulation environment is not required for this application and by avoiding computationally intensive simulation processes, even complex assemblies can be completely analyzed with this approach. For the first time, the so-called susceptibility analysis is also offered across the entire board via the reciprocal theorem: “What emits well is also receptive.”
In the webinar, FlowCAD shows how the rules-based EMI scanner works and how it is operated, and performs a susceptibility analysis on a complex assembly. Optional full-wave analysis methods are also presented, which provide you with a comprehensive software package for the efficient analysis and elimination of EMC problems at the circuit board level.
