Description

We are looking for a senior Python programmer and data scientist to develop software for our suite of backend analytics and simulation software and to serve as a Team Leader within the Sensor Fusion Business Unit (SFBU), formerly Hillcrest Labs, in Rockville, Maryland.

Here in CEVA we are developing state of the art sensor fusion software used in a variety of consumer products such as Smart TV’s, robotic vacuum cleaners, audio headsets, AR and VR glasses, and PC’s. The Sensor Fusion (SF) team is responsible for CEVA’s core sensor processing software which is used in a broad portfolio of CEVA products and is the result of over 15 years of experience developing sensor-based technology, systems and products. 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop software for CEVA’s suite of analytics and simulation software written in Python.
  • Develop software to control motion devices such as linear stages, gimbals, etc.
  • Work with Python packages Matplotlib, NumPy, SciPy.
  • Use various tools such as Conda for package management and CMake for building native components.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to understand user requirements and technical solutions.
  • Clearly communicate technical ideas both orally and in writing.
  • Lead a small software development team while still contributing technically.

Job Requirements: (Must Have)

  • Strong systems engineering skills and comfortable working with hardware devices.
  • Proficient developing Python 3 software.
  • Experience using Python to parse and process large amounts of data.
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git.
  • Strong software design skills and ability to break down problems independently.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact with other team members.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently within a multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary team.
  • Residing within D.C. Metro area to accommodate a hybrid work schedule (WFH/remote & on-site in the office).

Preferred Qualifications: (Nice to Have)

  • Comfortable with asynchronous event-driven programming (some of our software uses the Twisted networking package for Python).
  • Understanding of probability, statistics, and linear algebra.
  • Familiarity with various software tools such as Conda, CMake, and Visual Studio.
  • Experience with Python packages like Matplotlib and scientific computing packages such as NumPy and SciPy.
  • Familiarity and experience with other programming languages such as C++.

Education and Experience:

  • B.S in Computer Science, Applied Physics, or a relevant degree program.
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience.
  • 2+ years of management experience.
