Today’s electronic products increasingly use Rigid-Flex PCBs to compress form factors, reduce weight, and increase cost-effectiveness. For many commercially available 3D numerical solver technologies (FEM and FDTD), the electromagnetic (EM) analysis of rigid-flex PCBs has always been challenging due to the complexity of the 3D designs. Much of this complexity comes from bending the board into small spaces and keeping fidelity, like hatched ground and power planes, and attaching shielding mask layers.
This webinar will highlight the key challenges involved in the design and analysis of rigid-flex PCBs, specifically 3D electromagnetic simulation. Attendees will learn how to set up and perform the Rigid-Flex bending analysis using the Cadence Clarity 3D EM Solver for S-parameter extraction and parameterize bending angles to mitigate EMC/EMI issues.
