Bike Crank Webinar

About this Webinar

Acquiring skills and knowledge which improve responsible production of goods (UN Sustainable Development Goal n°12) is highly valued by both engineering students and industry. Additionally, it can be a vital source of motivation and engagement in the classroom. This webinar will present a case study on a sustainable product design methodology using a bike crank example to help educators embed eco-design thinking in their student’s decision-making process in product development.

What Attendees Will Learn

  • What is the environmental and industry context which requires students to be able to think about materials candidates and designs concurrently in any product development?
  • How Ansys tools allow us to look at material selection, structural FEA simulation, topology optimization, and streamlined life cycle assessment with a bike crank example.
  • How to construct key performance indices to make informed and responsible decisions and discuss additional considerations for critically assessing and improving material and design choices.

Who Should Attend

Academics and educators teaching or interested in engineering topics; mechanical engineering, product design, FEA simulation, materials selection, Eco-design
