MWE 2023

MWE 2023 (2023 Microwave Workshops and Exhibition) will be held from November 29th (Wednesday) to December 1st (Friday) at Pacifico Yokohama in the Minato Mirai district of Yokohama. MWE is one of the largest microwave technology and microwave industry events in Japan, with workshops and a microwave exhibition, held for the purpose of continuous development of microwave technology, collaboration between industry, government, and academia, and the creation of new industries. . MWE 2023 will be the first event after the restrictions put in place during the COVID-19 pandemic are fully lifted. This is the 27th time since the first one was held at Ikebukuro Sunshine City in 1991, and we look forward to seeing you at Pacifico Yokohama.

MWE is the largest international microwave conference in the Asia-Pacific region, APMC (Asia-Pacific Microwave Symposium), held in Japan every four years, along with IMS (International Microwave Symposium) in the United States and EuMW (European Microwave Week) in Europe. Conference), it is a driving force in Japan’s microwave field and serves as a place to integrate domestic and international microwave technology and industry. In addition, by creating new technologies based on microwave technology and returning the resulting technologies to society and industry, we are contributing to the development of academic, industrial, and educational fields in microwave-related fields in Japan.

In the communications field, commercial services for the 5th generation mobile communications system (5G) have begun, and applications are expanding not only to information and communications, but also to energy, medicine, security, distribution, manufacturing, etc. Furthermore, next-generation Beyond5G/6G technology development is becoming more active. The rapid development of AI technologies such as large-scale language models (LLMs) and machine learning, quantum technologies represented by quantum computers, and microscopic semiconductor devices are driving changes in various fields of society. Microwave technology and the fundamental devices and systems created by the microwave industry will further accelerate these transformations. Considering these current circumstances, microwave technology and the microwave industry based on microwave technology are increasing in importance and are expected to continue to lead the way. At MWE 2023, we expressed this trend with the keynote concept of “Microwave industry that creates innovation – Microwave Community, Pioneering Innovations.”

The workshop will be held entirely on-site. The program will consist of cutting-edge technology sessions on related technologies such as microwave fundamental technology, AI, quantum computers, wireless power transmission, ORAN, etc., which are reminiscent of keynote concepts, as well as basic and super introductory courses for beginners.
The keynote speech will begin with a lecture by Mr. Yuji Nakamura, Director of the Radio Policy Division, Radio Department, Communications Infrastructure Bureau, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, regarding the latest trends in radio administration. Next, Tokyo Institute of Technology Professor Teruya Fujii will give a lecture on the latest trends in Beyond 5G/6G technology, centered on HAPS technology.

The Microwave Exhibition will also have the same exhibition structure as before the COVID-19 pandemic, and you will be able to see directly the new products and technologies of each company. We will also hold exhibitor seminars to introduce the latest technologies and products of exhibitors. In addition to providing opportunities to showcase the latest research results from university and technical college laboratories, we also plan to create a place for exchange between university and technical college laboratories and companies. We also plan to hold a competition in which students compete to generate ideas for systems/applications/business models.

Finally, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to the support and patronage of many people who made it possible to hold MWE 2023. MWE 2023 will be held completely on-site, as it was before the COVID-19 pandemic. We sincerely hope that MWE 2023 will further develop microwave-related fields, create innovation, and help expand the microwave industry, and we look forward to your participation.
