Abstract
ANSYS Explicit Dynamics solutions are used to simulate complex and highly nonlinear mechanical and fluid/structure interaction problems. Its approach to material modeling is quite different from the approach that a typical structural analysis takes. In addition to the deviatoric deformation of materials, volume change and material failure are also considered in material modelling. Furthermore, numerical technique such as erosion is used to automatically remove distorted elements before solution is interrupted. This Tips & Tricks Session will highlight the basics of material modeling approach in Explicit Dynamics Analysis.

Chris Quan, Principal Technical Services Engineer

Chris has worked with ANSYS Explicit Dynamics products since 1998. He obtained PhD degree from University of British Columbia, Canada in 1998. His current major responsibilities are technical support on mechanical family of products as well as consulting services on Explicit Dynamics products.
