Global semiconductor industry analysts providing the semiconductor industry with semiconductor electronic market research, consulting, training & events
Malcolm's comments here seemed a bit off target. When the Tower Semi acquisition goes through Intel Foundry will take on a whole new look. I also don't agree with the OEM Direct Market comment. System companies are a big part of TSMC's market but the chip companies like Qualcomm, Nvidia, Broadcom, Marvell, MediaTek, etc... big targets of Samsung, are still in the mix. In my opinion IFS will be competing directly with Samsung for the "NOT TSMC" business first and foremost. Intel could also cherry pick Microsoft and other companies with existing Intel relationships and with Mobileye Intel has a much better position in Automotive than Samsung.
The "No end in sight for TSMC's global market dominance" comment is the biggest driver for Intel Foundry. Nobody wants a semiconductor manufacturing monopoly, right?
