We are looking for a Senior Energy Consultant to deliver valuable solutions to utilities, investors, and project developers. We seek someone with deep expertise in power market modeling to support asset valuation, curtailment and congestion analysis, strategic market outlooks, and project siting decisions. This is a remote position based in the Contiguous U.S.
You’ll make an impact as you:
- Develop and run production cost and market models to support Integrated Resource Planning (IRP) and broader integrated system planning studies.
- Build power price forecasts and long-term market outlooks to inform utility, developer, and investor decisions.
- Analyze system operations, resource adequacy, and portfolio performance under different planning scenarios and policy pathways.
- Support clients in evaluating generation, storage, and transmission investments within integrated planning frameworks.
- Deliver insights that help clients optimize portfolios, manage risks, and align with evolving market and regulatory conditions.
- Prepare clear, data-driven reports and presentations that communicate technical results and strategic implications.
- Mentor junior consultants in modeling, analytics, and interpretation of results.
You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:
Basic qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, economics, operations research, finance, statistics, physics, or mathematics.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in production cost modeling and power market analytics (using Aurora, PLEXOS, PROMOD, or other production cost modeling tools).
- Strong understanding of U.S. power markets, renewable integration, and transmission constraints.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% of the time, primarily within the U.S.
Preferred qualifications:
- Prior consulting experience with utilities, developers, or investors.
- Ability to communicate complex technical analyses in clear, client-ready deliverables.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks, interconnection processes, and decarbonization policies.
