Podcast EP367: How Keysight is Accelerating RF and Microwave Design with Matthew Ozalas
by Daniel Nenni on 09-18-2026 at 10:00 am

Daniel is joined by Matthew Ozalas from Keysight. With an experience of more than 20 years, Matthew brings a plethora of knowledge in complex RF designs using CAD tools.   Matthew has also authored several application notes on RF and Microwave design and development using Keysight ADS with his recent ones based on “Artificial neural network simulation models for RF power amplifiers” and has produced several tutorials on YouTube regarding complex RF designs.

In this highly informative discussion, Daniel explores the unique challenges of RF and microwave design with Matthew. They discuss the differences between digital and RF design in some detail. Matthew describes how all circuit structures become antennas at millimeter-wave frequencies and above, making coupling analysis and minimization a significant challenge. Matthew provides an insightful overview of the unique engineering process involved in RF design. He then describes ways AI can be applied to this process to dramatically accelerate the iterative and time-consuming trial-and-error work, allowing design teams to focus on higher-level architectural decisions.

The primary model Matthew proposes is “Capture, Orchestrate, Accelerate.” He describes the work going on at Keysight in this area and the good progress being made.
