SUMMARY

The Senior Application Engineer is responsible for leveraging expert-level engineering knowledge and customer-relationship skills to support regional accounts with significant impact on software revenue, as well as for proactively helping customers to deploy Ansys technology in solving complex engineering problems and delivering on their key business initiatives. This role provides technical pre-sales support throughout the entire sales process.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with Sales to develop high value solutions in the context of Digital Twins to customers’ complex problems, which deliver business value for the client inline with their digital engineering initiatives, while driving software revenue for Ansys
  • Responsible for articulating Ansys value proposition which may encompass its entire suite of products; the presentations must affirm the sales message, differentiate Ansys, and leave a strong and positive impression to audiences that Ansys’ technology can help deliver on customer’s digital engineering and key business initiatives
  • Work independently to analyze technical needs, requirements, and state of a customers’ current infrastructure, operations, and engineering workflows
  • Leverage expertise in workflow automation and process integration to create and demonstrate scalable simulation-based Digital Twin solutions by working across various teams and in support of the software sales process; sales cycle/process will be broad and complex in nature
  • Collaborate effectively as a subject matter expert to transfer optimization and workflow automation knowledge and best practices to customers and the ACE team
  • Participate in internal corporate initiatives to further enhance Ansys solutions, product suites, presales/sales enablement and professional growth; actively participate in the development and mentoring of team members
  • Work closely with R&D and Business Units, conduct product and solution testing, and communicate customer needs

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other technical discipline
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering software environment
  • Demonstrated use of relevant Ansys software or knowledge of other commercial CAE, CAD, EDA software packages
  • Demonstrated skills in scripting/programming languages: Python, C/C++
  • Strong knowledge and experience with multi-physics simulation workflow development, automation, and optimization
  • Experience with Process Integration and Design Optimization platforms and software packages (optiSlang, iSight, modeFrontier, etc).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to facilitate and conduct webinars and presentations to customers
  • Ability to interact effectively with senior business managers and C-level executives
  • Demonstrated skills in writing and presenting in fluent English
  • Logical problem-solving approach and the ability to clearly communicate the situation and proposed solution to the customer
  • Projects a professional image and strong business acumen during customer interactions
  • Possesses a sense of urgency, strong organizational and follow up skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MS or PhD degree preferred
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in an engineering software environment preferred
  • Must have passion and drive for personal technical excellence and high performance
  • Must have customer service aptitude and maintain customer focus
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
  • Experience with Ansys optiSlang
  • Experience with Reduced Order Models, validation and calibration methods
  • Experience with at least one of the Ansys flagship 3D physics simulation products (e.g. Fluent, Mechanical)
  • Demonstrated understanding of engineering practices and product development, technology and how these tools are used by our customers
  • Ability to facilitate customer requirements process and then work with customer to build out those requirements
  • Ability to manage multiple projects which are complex in nature and coordinate colleagues across diverse teams and locations
