Samsung has announced it plans to spend 206 billion on a range of technologies over the next three years among them advanced chips, AI, and robotics top the list. I wonder how Intel is going to keep up with TSM and Samsung if not get crushed between two giants building in the US and abroad? Will Intel end up a distant third? Any thoughts or comments are appreciated. Samsung also plans to build in the US, I wonder if they will get US subsidies?
As it stands today, I don't think Intel can compete. They may try to make some acquisitions to improve their scale, they may get some government subsidies, and those things can keep them alive for a while longer, but I don't think they will ever regain leadership.
