What do you think will be the impact from this latest round of export controls / trade sanctions?
No doubt China is going to try even harder to be self-reliant, they've been trying hard already for the past 5 years.
But given semi industry's inherent nature of being cross-border international cooperation and the US/Japan/EU have always been foundational parts of the industry, could this hugely expanded sanctions be detrimental to China's new semi industry? Semi technology takes time and money to build over time, not something can be rushed.
Love to hear your thoughts. More importantly, what could China do as next steps?

U.S. adds China's YMTC and 30 other firms to 'unverified' trade list
The United States on Friday added China's top memory chipmaker YMTC and 30 other Chinese entities to a list of companies that U.S. officials have been unable to inspect, ratcheting up tensions with Beijing and starting a 60 day-clock that could trigger much tougher penalties.
