New export controls on China semis

What do you think will be the impact from this latest round of export controls / trade sanctions?

No doubt China is going to try even harder to be self-reliant, they've been trying hard already for the past 5 years.

But given semi industry's inherent nature of being cross-border international cooperation and the US/Japan/EU have always been foundational parts of the industry, could this hugely expanded sanctions be detrimental to China's new semi industry? Semi technology takes time and money to build over time, not something can be rushed.

Love to hear your thoughts. More importantly, what could China do as next steps?

Actually CCP has been trying to leap forward in semiconductor industry for the past 60+ years, as early as 1956.

Sadly, brutality, craziness, corruption, and dictatorship have killed their semiconductor dreams and talents year after year.
