I found some interesting insights on Apple's direction in the semi world. Opinions an comments solicited and welcome. It seems Apple's direction is to own more and more custom silicon to maintain and try to widen it's lead and perhaps blaze a new direction?
At first, it's a very nice article, very good popularization.
Do we really learn anything about Apple's strategy, except that Apple is going vertical?
I think we learn much more by reading a report from Anandtech, or a blog from Dan about which foundry will process the next A9...
Anyway, Srouji seems to be the right person at the right place, very focused and pleasant!
It's a interesting article. One thing I don't agree is that it said Apple is the "prisoner" of its parts suppliers. If it's true, then Apple is probably the happiest prisoner in the world! As matter of fact, Apple is making more profit than all Apple suppliers' combined profit.
