Nice tech story, however these non-technical communicators are often unable to distinguish between designing an SoC versus building or fabrication of the SoC. AWS will design their Graviton4 chips, while TSMC will build or fabricate the SoC. The video segment was set in a facility where technicians were working on PCBs which included some custom chips.
The $7 billion ( instead of trillion) is just one of several funny but not necessarily correct comments. For example:
1. "See how tiny those things are! They have to use tweezers...". Actually tweezers are much bigger than today's semiconductors internal construction.
2. "Apple can't make smartphone chips so they signed another 3-year contract with Qualcomm". Actually, it is the smartphone modem chips.
2. "Microsoft designed two AI chips in-house." Actually Microsoft released in-house designed Maia chip for AI and the other one is CPU "Cobalt" for servers.
Strictly speaking, to use "frenemy" to describe the relationship between Amazon and Nvidia is also misleading. Amazon, Apple, Google, and Microsoft do not sell in-house designed chips to Intel's customers. They are using those chips to improve or enhance their own products (iPhones, Pixel Phones) and services (search, cloud hosting, consumer e-commerce ) while Intel doesn't have any those final products or services at all. If we call it a "frenemy", then many companies, even between several Intel own divisions will fit into this situation.

The larger situation is thru foundry current established ecosystem the capability for trillion dollar as well as multi hundred capitalized companies to get value out of a customer chip makes it compelling to do it inside. A pivot point for foundry as well as fabless as well as the new system times.
As long as no one uses the information in the report for anything they do in life, it is a reasonable report
On the Frenemy: IMO, Great companies buy from competitors ALL the time. You make the best business decisions all the time. Everyone knows and understand the potential strategic implications much better than Analysts and reporters. Apple and Nvidia spend many Billions every year at their so-called competitors. They focus on being successful.
