Senior CUP (Central Utility Plant) Operations Technician

GLOBALFOUNDRIES FAB10 in East Fishkill, NY is looking for a CUP (Central Utility Plant) Operation’s Technician within the Facilities Organization to reliably and efficiently operate, and maintain, all systems and subsystems supporting a semiconductor manufacturing facility and all other buildings within the campus.  These systems include, High and Low Temperature Chilled Water, High Temperature Hot Water, Deionized Water, and Compressed Air Systems. The successful candidate must be a motivated self-starter which is able to work in a team environment with a primary focus on customer satisfaction.  Strong communication skills and schedule flexibility are important as weekend coverage will be required.

Essential Responsibilities:

●   Start/Stop Chillers and adjust flows and temperatures, switch between mechanical and free cooling modes, and operate cooling towers as needed.

●   Start/Stop High Temperature Hot Water Boilers, switch fuel types, and adjust flows and temperatures as needed.

●   Start/Stop Air Compressors as needed.

●   Operate and adjust the Deionized Water System which includes, regenerating ion exchange vessels, Reverse Osmosis skid cleanings, and adjustment of the on-site well and municipal water systems.

●   Perform equipment PM’s and maintenance tasks as assigned with minimal supervision.

●   Dispatch Site Wide Alarms and Interface with Customers.

●   Interface with Engineering on all System/Equipment concerns and problems.

Required Qualifications:

Education:  High School or graduate from a Technical/Associates Degree in Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience – 6 years of relevant experience or recent HVAC/R Technical Graduate
Must be able to perform shift work on a 8 hour schedule
Able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds on a periodic basis throughout the shift (preventive maintenance) and/or process issues ability to perform work in a standing position for majority of a 8 hour shift (excluding breaks)

Preferred Qualifications:

●   Knowledge in Equipment Control Systems, ie PLCs, Single Loop Controllers, SCADA’s etc.

●   Knowledge in Combustion/Boilers

●   Knowledge in Refrigeration
