SUMMARY
The Application Engineer II provides technical pre-sales support throughout the customer engagement process. This is achieved by leveraging advanced-level engineering knowledge and relationships, to support regional accounts and significantly impact software sales revenue. Additionally, they will help customers solve complex engineering problems using ANSYS software products. We are expanding the ANSYS Granta AE team. Therefore, we are now seeking a German speaking Application Engineer II. You will be joining a EMEA focused organization working particularly closely with our commercial sales team and Channel Partners, primarily but not exclusive in the DACH region. You will help leading engineering enterprises to manage and apply vital information about their engineering materials and assist them with the optimization of their product development process. This will involve organizations from industry sectors such as: Aerospace, automotive, oil and gas, defense, medical, personal electronics, wind energy and more.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate and execute all technical activities throughout the sales process, including: needs discovery, proof-of-value demonstrations, stakeholders workshops and business-winning proposal creation
- Engage with customers to understand their processes and requirements for materials information management
- Draw from commercial experience and technical expertise to outline the best practice solutions that maximize the value to the customer, calling on the full range of products from Granta and the wider ANSYS product lines as needed
- Collaborate with local ANSYS sales and channel partners to build pipeline and increase revenue
- Participate in internal corporate initiatives to further enhance ANSYS solutions, presales/sales enablement and professional growth
- Create elegant and useful solutions to solve complex business problems by working across various teams and understanding the needs of our customers
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Be fluent in German and English (written and spoken) and able to communicate highly complex, technical and business subjects in both languages
- Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills
- Experience of an industry served by ANSYS Granta, such as aerospace, automotive, consumer electronics, defense, energy, medical, oil and gas
- BS in mechanical, material science or other engineering related discipline
- Some familiarity with one or more of the tools associated with virtual product development or materials information management
- Ability to work independently, as well as with others in a diverse team environment
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and to communicate effectively with customers
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Working experience with value-based or consultative selling techniques
- Higher Degree (Master or PhD) in mechanical, material science or other engineering related discipline
- Excellent knowledge of office automation software including Excel; good knowledge of PYTHON, MATLAB or another language; some knowledge of database applications
- A passion and drive for personal technical excellence and high performance
- Available for travel (up to 50%)
- Ready to spend up to 3 of the first 6 months in Cambridge office for training and induction
