The new Tesla S models are a tour de force in almost every respect and a statement of how far semi and battery technologies have come. The new S models are literally loaded with sophisticated semis and like anything else the cost will come down. In fact, the new high end model S blows away the top end Italian rockets and almost renders them obsolete at a fraction of the price, less than half in most cases. Just like any other set of technologies, this is an example of the "Great Acceleration" driving down costs and increasing performance at an ever accelerating rate. This increasingly will apply to almost everything we touch. I hope medical in this country will remove the barriers to progress that have given us the world's most expensive medical, while ranking 37th in quality. Corruption and politics has ruled medical and I hope this can be overcome to let technology take its course as it is doing in almost everything else.
