At January’s IFS, we hesitatingly settled on a 16 percent value growth forecast for 2024. Hesitatingly because we were very concerned that the supposed chip market recovery was being inflated by ASPs measured against 2023’s severely collapsed values. We feared that the ‘recovery’ was a quirk of the math and not genuine market growth. Given the worsening first quarter results, with the monthly annualized growth rates bar memory all on a downward trend, it looks like our fears were well-founded. Based on the first two months’ billings, Q1 will now tank.
