Oh joy - security solutions that are worse than no solution

Beware the Comcast Xfinity home security solution. It seems to be trivially easy to jam the ZigBee signal, causing the system to lock into an "everything is secure" state (even though it may not be) which does not clear for several hours. Better yet, consumers are invited to post a sign on their lawn indicating they use this solution, advertising them as easy targets for tech-aware burglars. Comcast does not seem eager to provide a software patch, claiming that this is an industry-wide problem which requires careful thought, research and industry collaboration to come up with the right fix.

You can read the Wired article HERE.

It sounds like Comcast rushed to market without doing enough quality checks and security checks in this ZigBee-based security product, shame on them and woe to the early adopter customers. I expect a huge class action lawsuit to emerge which may potentially cause Comcast to simply exit this service business instead of fix it.
