What is the ICCAD Student Scholar Program?
ICCAD recognizes that students, presenting research and/or participating in student activities, at our conference is an important aspect of his/her professional, educational, and research development. Further, student involvement in our conferences is fundamental to our development as a research community. This Program provides a mechanism to allow more students with a demonstrated financial need to attend our conferences. The ICCAD Scholar Program is intended to enable students who lack other support opportunities to attend ICCAD conferences to participate in activities such as:
  • - Presenting a paper
  • - CADathlon
  • - IC/CAD contest
  • - SRC
  • - Joining the job fair
Students are expected to apply for this program if interested. Successful applicants will receive a provisional grant, dependent on their participation in one or more of the above student activities at the conference.

What does this grant cover?
The ICCAD Scholar Program provides need-based financial assistance to students who want to participate at ICCAD. Each award consists of reimbursements of various amounts, depending on many factors (e.g., traveling expenses) but will not exceed $1,000 USD. The awards will go through the ICCAD Travel Grant System, to partially cover conference registration and travel expenses including airfare (economy flights only), accommodation, subsistence, and other expenses necessary for attending the conference. Complimentary registration is not provided as part of the grant but can be covered by the grant.

Who is eligible?
The grant is for students who hope to participate in student activities at ICCAD and/or students who plan to present an accepted paper. The paper in question may have other co-authors, and the co-authors don’t need to be students. It is mandatory that the student is involved in presenting the work. Other eligibility requirements are that:
  • - The student cannot attend without the support provided by this Program (as attested to by a letter from the student’s advisor)
  • - Only one student per paper can apply.
  • - An applicant is eligible to receive only one such grant.
  • - Preference will be given to first-time attendees over repeat attendees of the conference.
  • - Preference will be given to Ph.D. students unless exceptional circumstances.
  • - The applicant must be a student, ACM, and/or IEEE member at the time of application.
  • - An applicant participating in more student activities will have a higher chance to be selected.
Evaluation Committee
The ICCAD Student Scholar Program (SSP) committee will make the selection and seek approval from the ICCAD Executive Committee (EC). The ICCAD SSP committee includes Evangeline Young, Tsung-Yi Ho, Yiyu Shi, Yu-Guang Chen, Debjit Pal, and Jeff Zhang. The ICCAD EC are currently Evangeline Young, Tulika Mitra, Jinjun Xiong, Robert Wille, Deming Chen, Ismail Bustany, Tsung-Yi Ho, Ulf Schlichtmann, Yiyu Shi, Wei Zhang and Mark Ren. Real and apparent conflicts of interest between committee members and applicants will be managed to ensure the integrity of this program.

Evaluation criteria
Applications will be reviewed by members of the SSP committee. The evaluation criteria include the student’s need and lack of alternatives, the opportunity for the attendee to improve the diversity of the conference, and the benefits to the student of attending the conference.

Application Form
The link to fill out the application form can be found here.
