Overview
Pragmatic are seeking Lab Manager to take over responsibility for our growing electronics & reliability lab in Cambridge. The successful applicant will be responsible for all aspects of the Cambridge lab, in particular the day to day scheduling of work on tools, health & safety, and equipment maintenance & calibration.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
- Line manage and grows a team of lab technicians and planners
- Manage the budget and track spending for the lab, including consumables, maintenance, and development projects.
- Ensure the lab is a safe, efficient, and pleasant place to work.
- Develop & review procedures for how to operate lab equipment, perform maintenance, and assemble prototypes. And ensure they are followed. .
- Take experiment plans submitted by engineers and work them into a schedule of tasks for the lab team
- Develop & maintain schedules for calibration, maintenance, and training.
- Work closely with suppliers arrange equipment installation, maintenance, calibration, and training.
- Take a proactive approach to resolving issues, tackling problems, and learning about new systems.
Qualifications and training
- GCSE Grade “C” equivalent or better in English, Maths, IT and a Science subject
- Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience as an electronics lab technician or managing a lab
- Demonstrable knowledge of lean six sigma, it’s principles, and how to implement it. A strong understanding of electronics and its core principles.
- Knowledge of ESD and Health & Safety; best practices and regulatory requirements.
- A strong ability to work to tight deadlines and progress multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and part of a team.
- Exceptional organisational skills.
- An enthusiasm for engineering, electronics, and learning
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Previous experience managing a team.
- Demonstrable experience in handling lab equipment’s such as oscilloscope, power supply, function generator. Etc
- The ability to follow technical documents electrical and electronic circuit blueprints, diagrams, and schematics is an added advantage
