Responsibilities

  • Ability to set up and operate optical grinding and polishing equipment according to the instructions, including reviewing prints and designing tools.
  • Lapping and polishing glasses in several optical configurations and know how to take measurements on metrology systems such as interferometers, profilometers, and microscopes.
  • Adjust tooling and spindles as necessary, perform blocking and unblocking of parts, read drawings to determine specifications, and support daily actives to tidy up the process and clean the workstations.
  • The person will need to have experience in changing the pad and maintaining the equipment.

Qualifications

  • Able to polish using pitch laps, working to tolerance 1/10 wave
  • Perform calculations, quality tests, measurements, and inspections
  • Clean and prepare parts for QC
  • Able to read, understand and follow written instructions and procedures
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Decision-making and time management skills • Ability to contribute as an individual and as a team member
  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Handling of delicate optics
  • Good math skills
  •  Working with chemicals and solvents
  • Following all safety and health regulations
  • High School diploma and 3-5 years of relevant experience grinding and polishing optics
  • Experience with CNC Polishing, Peter Wolters and Hoffman
