Job Description and Requirements

Position: Synopsys has an opening for a Software Developer Intern within the Optical Solutions Group (OSG) working in our Pasadena California office. We are looking for a motivated individual with passion for programming and software development who wants to contribute to a world leading software for optical design and analysis.  The position requires good software development skills with working knowledge of C++.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work with the stakeholders to turn technical requirements into actionable tasks
  • Develop C++ code to implement required software features
  • Make sure the new code is covered by adequate automated tests in the internal testing environment
  • Demonstrate the developed capabilities to our marketing team for feedback
  • Work with developers, testers and customer representatives in an agile environment to create illumination software solutions to tackle cutting edge problems

Job Requirements

  • Current academic pursuit of a degree in Computer Science or similar technical field
  • Accomplishments in the field of Computer Science and/or Software Engineering
  • Hands-on experience creating C++ software, specifically Microsoft Visual C++ for Windows
  • Strong communication skills for working in team as well as the ability to read scholarly journals

Optional but Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with mathematics, physics and optics
  • Experience in development of commercial software
  • Experience with simulation or CAD software
  • Keen sense of balancing the best solution versus time constraints
  • Experience with Software testing
