Senior Engineer Technology & Development

Summary of Role: 

 GLOBALFOUNDRIES Fab 10 is seeking a highly skilled and motivated silicon photonics device engineer, responsible for developing Silicon Photonic devices, contributing to a device suite that includes waveguides, couplers, modulators, multiplexers, polarization splitter / rotators, and detectors.  Experience in the design and characterization of Modulators and Detectors is required.

Essential Responsibilities:  

• Report into the silicon photonics technology development  organization in East Fishkill or Malta.
• Own a subset of the device suite, such as MZ modulators, epi-Germanium detectors, or mux / demux devices for WDM.
• Own the device through the entire life cycle, from device definition through release of design kit
• Work jointly with design enablement, process integration, test and characterization teams to achieve device performance, yield, and reliability targets
• Assist field engineers with customer support.
• Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs
  

Required Qualifications:   

• Education – PhD. Degree in Electrical engineering, or Solid state physics
• Experience – 1-2 years of relevant work experience
• Silicon photonic device design and characterization – coursework or internship experience acceptable
• Language Fluency – Fluent in English Language – written & verbal 

Preferred Qualifications:

• PhD. Degree in Electrical engineering, or Solid-state physics
• Experience in optical simulation (RSoft, Lumerical) and RF simulation
• Experience in test and characterization of photonic devices
• Experience in semiconductor processing
• Experience in data analysis
• Excellent interpersonal skills, energetic, motivated, and self-driven
• Demonstrate ability to work well within a global matrixed team or environment with minimal supervision
• Outstanding communication skills – both written and verbal
• Demonstrated ability to communicate well with all levels of the organization and experience in working with external constituencies
• Strong organizational skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and able to react to shifting priorities to meet business needs
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and commitments
• Familiar with 5S, 8D, 6-sigma, SPC, DOE, FMEA
