Summary:

The Water Engineer will act as the system owner and subject matter expert who is responsible for safety, capacity, reliability, documentation, and advanced troubleshooting of Ultrapure Water, Process Cooling Water, Industrial Reclaim, and Industrial Waste Treatment systems & equipment supporting the Fab21 Semiconductor fab.

The Water Engineer will own developing documentation such as PM Job plans, operating procedures, troubleshooting specifications & training programs and commissioning as well as engaging with technicians and service providers in the field to ensure our water systems are safe and well maintained.

The Water Engineer may also provide design and construction support for projects.

The Water Engineer will work in cooperation with other engineers, technicians, and managers to ensure that all process specifications are met, and to ensure efficient completion of projects.

Senior/experienced engineers will also act as a mentor to junior engineers.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand and apply 6S methodology in workspaces and processes to increase efficiency and safety.
  • Provide support of operational and maintenance issues, during and after normal business hours, to assist with technical system problems. Assist/lead in troubleshooting and identifying countermeasures of system operational issues.
  • Review and analyze data for equipment/systems to ensure they are running within specifications
  • Maintaining a technical focus on problem solving, root cause analysis, engineering design, cost estimating, financial management, and project management
  • Forecasting system capacity needs based on current and future demand projections. Develop plans to accommodate projected system demand needs. Identify capacity concerns, and analyze data to predict utility/chemical use
  • Plan and incorporate future-ready techniques, concept development, operating strategies, and various design requirements that account for the safety and functionality of end-users, systems, and infrastructure.
  • Develops System Documentation including Preventative and Corrective Maintenance (PM/CM) Job Plans, Operating Instructions (OI), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Out of Control Action Plans (OCAP), and Training; identifies opportunities for improvement. Ensure all requirements as specified by the manufacturer of equipment systems are met, and equipment operations, repairs, modifications, and maintenance meet environmental protection requirements
  • Identifies opportunities to reduce the overall cost including outsource vs. insource, alternate suppliers, PM Frequency optimization, etc.
  • Forecasting associated costs and managing expenditures for new construction and/or sustaining operations and report deviations to management
  • Working to integrate reliability focus and risk analysis to include Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), system design, system startup/commissioning, system construction, training, and 8D problem solving methods on any equipment failures or impacts to production
  • Supports other sections and/or departments, as necessary.
  • Work closely with internal customer organizations and service providers to prevent downtime, maximize equipment performance, and maintain effective communication.
  • Provides Training and Troubleshooting to technicians to ensure safe troubleshooting, operations and maintenance work.
  • Incorporate and standardize best practices into site specifications, standards, and procedures.
  • Seek out innovative concepts/technologies and drive to implementation.
  • Additional duties based on business needs, including ERT

Knowledge and Personal skills:

  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand engineering drawings and specifications.
  • The ability to work cooperatively with other technicians, supervisors, engineers, and managers
  • Proficient with various engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure design.
  • Well-developed ability to make technical computations and calculations involving the application of engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons to the appropriate regulations.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to engineering and non-engineering audiences.
  • Demonstrated high-level of self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Works independently with minimal oversight and provides guidance and leadership to technicians and engineers.
  • Proficient with technical writing, office software (Microsoft Office), discipline-specific design software (i.e., AutoCAD, Revit, etc.), technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, computations, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating and assertively directing subcontractors and others to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently.

Experience, Education, and Training:

  • Required qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, or related science field
  • Preferred qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
    • Experience in facilities engineering, semiconductor specific experience desired
    • Experience with industrial waste treatment, water treatment, and/or ultrapure water system design, construction, commissioning, and operations
    • Professional Engineer license
