Applications Engineering, Staff Engineer
We are
Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.
You are
You are an engineer who finds real satisfaction in helping others solve challenging problems.
You have experience in high-frequency electromagnetic analysis, including signal integrity (SI) troubleshooting for high-speed PCBs and optimization of RF components. When simulation results do not match measurement data, you can evaluate the situation from multiple angles, develop hypotheses, systematically isolate the root cause, and drive the problem toward resolution.
You take the time to understand the challenges your customers are truly trying to solve and work with them to determine the best path forward. Sometimes customers may not yet be able to clearly articulate the underlying issue. In those situations, you can uncover the real problem through thoughtful discussion and recommend the most effective approach.
You are also able to explain complex technical challenges in a clear and practical way. You bring fresh perspectives, help customers see new possibilities, and guide them toward the next step.
You are organized, accountable, and execution-focused. You manage opportunities effectively, follow through on commitments, and pay attention to the details that build trust with customers.
Working directly with customers energizes you, and helping them succeed is what motivates you every day. You enjoy continuously learning new technologies and tools while developing your own skills. Most importantly, you take pride in knowing that your work helps engineers around the world create innovative products and turn new ideas into reality.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Engage directly with customers working on chip, package, and PCB designs to diagnose signal integrity, power integrity, and EMC challenges and recommend the right simulation approach using Ansys HFSS, SIwave and Q3D
- Train customer engineering teams on Ansys simulation products, from first-time users learning the interface to experienced engineers looking to optimize runtime or accuracy
- Collaborate with the Synopsys product development team to communicate customer requirements, test beta releases, and provide feedback that shapes future product roadmaps
- Support the sales team in technical evaluations, competitive benchmarks, and proof-of-concept projects that help customers understand the value of moving to or expanding their use of our solutions
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with a focus on electromagnetics, signal integrity (SI), power integrity (PI), EMC, or related disciplines.
- 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in signal integrity, power integrity, EMC, or related areas, preferably within a design, validation, or product development environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues. Experience working in an international environment or using English in a professional setting is a plus.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple customer projects simultaneously and consistently meeting commitments, deadlines, and deliverables.
- Experience with Ansys software or other commercial CAE, CAD, and EDA tools is a strong advantage.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically up to 50% of the time.
Who You Are
- You are results-oriented and take ownership of customer engagements from the initial discussion through successful resolution.
- You are passionate about continuous learning, whether it involves new technologies, emerging customer challenges, or technical domains that are new to you.
- You are a proactive problem solver who can independently investigate technical issues, identify root causes, and develop practical solutions for customers.
- You enjoy working closely with customers, building trusted relationships, and helping them achieve their design and business goals.
