System Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced System Engineer with a background in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Robotics. The ideal candidate will play a key role in our system design and engineering efforts, specializing in the integration, control and testing of a wide array of sensors and devices. This includes gimbal systems, various imaging cameras, laser range finder, LIDAR, weather sensors among others. The position involves conducting both indoor lab tests and experimental field tests, with potential out-of-state travel to test sites.

Key Responsibilities:

• Integrate and control of diverse sensors and devices, ensuring seamless operation and data acquisition.

• Conduct thorough experiments to validate system performance under various conditions.

• Develop user-friendly interfaces (GUIs) for system operation and participate in sensor signal processing and computer vision tasks to improve data quality and system functionality.

• Utilize Python for device connectivity and control via vendor-provided API/SDK. MATLAB or similar programming tools as an added advantage.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field.

• Experience in sensor integration, with proficiency in Python for hardware connection and device control with knowledge of MATLAB or other programming tools being highly desirable.

• Familiarity with TCP/IP, and other connectivity protocols for diverse sensor integration.

• Capable of innovative problem-solving in both team and independent settings

• Ability to perform both laboratory and field testing, including occasional travel to out-of-state test sites as required.

• Experience in optical imaging systems, computer vision, sensor signal processing, and developing GUIs is a strong advantage.
