PFE internship (6 months) – Energy management

Soitec is a company listed on the CAC Next 20 index of the Paris Stock Exchange that operates upstream of the microelectronics value chain. You will join Soitec alongside Laurent, leader of the climate and energy division of the HSE team. Our Bernin site has been ISO50001 certified since 2015, allowing us to control our energy consumption for almost 10 years. However, in a context of growth of our activities and our requirements in terms of environmental impacts, we wish to strengthen this control and deploy it even more widely.

Your first mission will be to study our existing energy management system and compare it to the requirements of the ISO50001 standard to identify any gaps and areas for improvement.

To do this, you will be required to:

– participate in the 2024 energy review in collaboration with 3E Performance,
– prepare and conduct an interview with each of the players in the Energy team and accompany them in the field to learn about the technical installations concerned,
– study our Significant Energy Uses and their associated measurement systems: production equipment (e.g. heat treatment furnaces, implanters, etc.), facilities that supply the clean room (e.g. air handling units, hot and chilled water production, etc.),
– produce a summary report on the deviations observed from the standard and possible improvements.

Your second mission will be to study and propose a redesign of the Energy Database. To achieve this, you will need to:

– take ownership of the Energy Database (understand the tool, its data sources, how it is updated and the information it provides, such as the Sankey diagram of our consumption),
– understand its use in the context of the energy review (energy balance of the year) and the Greenovation project (the objective of which is to quantify the energy consumption required to manufacture each of Soitec’s products),
– collect improvement needs from the various users,
– research and study possible alternative tools (Google Sheet, PowerBI, or other specialized software),
– propose a redesign of the existing database and, if necessary, participate in its deployment.

• Student in the 3rd year of engineering school specializing in energy, you are looking for a 6-month end-of-studies internship as soon as possible.
• You have a strong interest in energy issues in an industrial environment.
• You have a good command of spreadsheet tools such as Excel and Google Sheet (data tables, formulas, pivot tables and graphs).
• You believe you have the human skills expected of a project manager. As a good communicator, you demonstrate proactivity and dynamism and are not afraid to seek out information and resources regarding the successful completion of your missions.
• Your ability to take a step back from all the missions entrusted to you will allow you to provide answers regarding the structuring and standardization of the energy division.
