Explosions are never good, 2025 still going to happen ?

Damn that’s sad. Anyone have any idea what could possibly have caused this?

Intel nears $11 billion deal with Apollo for Ireland factory, WSJ reports

All I know is PE firms don’t operate out of the goodness of their hearts. These deals have to be sufficiently in their favour in order for them to even be interested. They will extract their pound of flesh no matter if intel continues struggling or not. Intel calls this “smart capital” but it’s...

Another Intel leader bites the dust, is this good?

Another IFS head? What's going on over there?

Intel nears $11 billion deal with Apollo for Ireland factory, WSJ reports

Not sure. Its a very tough position but this just reeks of abject desperation. Intel already has a inferior cost structure to TSMC and this will just make it worse as any profits it can potentially squeeze out of these projects will be cut in half

Intel nears $11 billion deal with Apollo for Ireland factory, WSJ reports

I dont think they afford to build all these fabs actually. They are effectively selling the rights to future profits in order to build these sites out. I believe the previous brookfield deal was for 49% of future profits or something like that.

Intel nears $11 billion deal with Apollo for Ireland factory, WSJ reports

Mortgaging the future. Hard to see how this doesn't kneecap intel in the future. P/E firms will extract their pound of flesh

    TSMC April 2024 Revenue Report

Yeah I was be very surprised if it was mid 20’s%. Mid 30’s% seems more likely

    TSMC April 2024 Revenue Report

I think its important to keep in context TSMC's growth in 2022. Revenue grew 55.5% in April 2022 and 43% for '22 as a whole. So yes revenue did dip 14.3% in April 2023 but its still coming off a large growth rate. Aggregated over three years that is still a very large growth rate.

China Taking Taiwan, Fear Mongers Rule

The poll defines as 34 and under. 83% see themselves as solely Taiwanese. And yes on the second point. A generation has grown up expecting a certain standard of living in China. They care more about their own lives than some grand national project that the CCP likes to portray.

China Taking Taiwan, Fear Mongers Rule

Young Taiwanese see themselves at distinctly Taiwanese and not Chinese. It’s up to them to decide, not what others think of a perceived “brotherhood of Han”...

Intel first quarter 2024 earnings of

In-line with muted guidance. Putting in your slide deck that you’ve “engaged with almost foundry customers” is kind of a rough flex. No reason to get excited until 2030 it seems. Another thing I noted when going through financial statements. TSMC has $11 billion more USD in straight cash than...

TSMC says 'A16' chipmaking tech to arrive in 2026, setting up showdown with Intel

I guess the read through for this is that N2 derived processes must be promising (i.e N2P, N2X) to make N2 jump worth it. SPR is what TSMC is calling BPD right? Also N2P and N2X are using BPD right?

China Taking Taiwan, Fear Mongers Rule

Billions not trillions. And well worth it. The yearly budget for military is 900 billion. We are spending a fraction of that to cripple Russia's military without spending any American lives. Russia is openly allied to China and other malign actors (i.e Iran, North Korea) with the express purpose...

China Taking Taiwan, Fear Mongers Rule

Don't be so sure. Taiwan only has a couple landing spots that are very fortified and the rest of the island is flanked by mountains. Also, an invasion force would be seen to be building up for over a year for a job of that size. I reckon it would be a massacre to attempt and invasion against a...

TSMC says 'A16' chipmaking tech to arrive in 2026, setting up showdown with Intel

Dan’s the man!! How’s first gen GAA yielding on N2? PDK coming along nicely? Density still as anemic as first reported?
