We are looking for an IT Manager (Operations) to join an exciting, growing business headquartered in Cambridge!

As the IT Manager, you will play a pivotal role in running and optimising our IT infrastructure at Pragmatic. Reporting to the Director of IT, you will oversee the day-to-day IT operations, manage a team of IT professionals, and collaborate with various departments to support business objectives and growth.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in team management and multi-site on-premise systems, Microsoft Azure deployments, DevOps practices, and cloud migrations. Your expertise will ensure seamless integration and efficient operations in a constantly evolving technological landscape!

Key Responsibilities:

IT Operations Management

  • Supervise daily operations of the IT department, ensuring we provide sufficient and reliable IT services to the broader business.
  • Develop, implement, and refine IT processes to improve operational efficiency.
  • Establish and implement IT policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Supporting a lean operating model and capturing future needs for headcount growth.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the IT Operations team
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment, identifying and addressing skill gaps within the team through training, collaboration, and the implementation of shift-left principles.
  • Support on/off boarding process improvements across the Pragmatic business.

Cloud & Technology Transformation

  • Lead and manage cloud transformation projects, including planning, execution, and post-implementation support.
  • Work with collaborators to develop a comprehensive cloud strategy aligned with business goals.
  • Drive the adoption of Azure and DevOps practices across the business.

Process Maturity & Improvement

  • Assess current IT processes and identify areas for improvement and automation
  • Implement processes for ITSM and ensure adherence to industry standards. Support the implementation of self-service capabilities.
  • Develop and supervise KPIs to measure process maturity and team performance.

Security and Compliance

  • Support the implementation of robust security measures to protect our data and IT assets, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards.
  • Demonstrate our existing technical capabilities to secure our environment and find opportunities for ongoing improvement.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand IT requirements and align technology solutions with our goals.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing updates on IT initiatives and addressing issues in a timely manner.

Metrics and Data

  • Supply to the establishment of IT performance and give visibility across the organisation by defining critical business leadership metrics and reporting capabilities.

Vendor Management

  • Maintain relationships with IT vendors and service providers and ensuring service level agreements are met and evaluate new technologies and solutions to enhance the organisation’s IT capabilities.

Qualifications & Training

Essential

  • Demonstrable dynamic experience in IT, leading and motivating teams to deliver their very best.
  • Extensive experience of Microsoft technologies, particularly Microsoft 365, Azure, Windows Server.
  • Strong team leadership skills.
  • In-depth working knowledge of IT infrastructure, security, and compliance practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • 5+ years in progressive IT team lead/leadership roles.
  • Exposure to hyper-converged / cloud infrastructure / on-prem to cloud migrations.
  • Microsoft 365, including Teams, SharePoint, Entra and Endpoint/InTune.
  • Windows Server 2012 & higher, VMware, HyperV.
  • Windows 10+ support.
  • Experience in supporting NAS/network shares.
  • Strong cyber awareness.
  • Experience in using ITSM tools; Jira Service Management, ServiceNow, etc.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with engineering applications.
  • Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS, RedHat) and macOS
  • Microsoft Teams Room or similar audio & visual deployment knowledge alongside boardroom support.
  • Familiar with ISO27001 certification and requirements to be compliant.
  • Knowledge of IFS ERP solutions.
  • Familiar with project methodologies – agile, waterfall, Dev/Sec/Ops, etc.
