SUMMARY
This position reports into the Head of EMEA (ACE) Field Engineering. Main responsibilities are the development and delivery of Skills, Application Know-How and Technical Offerings in the “M” Engineering Discipline of Mechanical/Structural Analysis, Motion, Additive Print, Materials, Mechatronics, Dynamics, Acoustic etc.

The Engineering Head of this “M” Discipline creates a high-performance culture, eager to learn and innovate with our customers, passionate to win technical sales campaigns, delivering excellence in all our services and support activities, across EMEA. The Leader establishes clear ownership, focus and accountability within the teams of engineers, developing the people.

This Leader is a respected partner for our ANSYS BU’s, working in a close interlock with the BU partners to ensure our offerings meeting customers’ expectations. Driven by the guidance of our Technical Account Management Teams and Sales Management, the leader is building the capabilities and expertise to deliver on our initiatives, projects and campaigns, being responsible for the successful staffing and resourcing as well as the successful execution and delivery. This role is responsible for a high motivation in the teams, a healthy utilization across the teams and a fair, consistent performance management in the teams.

While we organize in currently five major “Engineering Disciplines”, all Leaders of these groups support and enable the successful teamwork among their peer groups, across all EMEA Engineering Disciplines with various industry application focus, i.e. supporting Virtual “Mission Teams” developing new Solutions and delivering multi-phase/-physics workflows and Design Platforms.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Owns Development of People’s Skills, Application Know-How, and ANSYS EMEA Offerings within the “M” Engineering Discipline area. Developing our engineers and recruiting new best talent. Responsible for consistent and fair performance management, calibrated across all groups.
  • Ownership of EMEA “M” Engineering Discipline application focus and product planning input to our Development Teams. Responsible for developing and driving new Business Offerings for EMEA markets. Mapping industry trends into ANSYS offerings.
  • Owns the EMEA Pre-Sales delivery performance supporting Enterprise, Strategic and all other direct accounts and Channel Partners, according to our GTM model. Works closely with Technical Account Management Teams and Account Managers to strategize, plan, qualify and deliver the campaigns. Supporting Sales Teams to meet and exceed their numbers.
  • Responsible for the delivery of the EMEA Support and Training Function covering all products and methodologies of the “M” Engineering Discipline, organize a fungible support operation with optimal account focus, leveraging relevant expertise and targeting best customer satisfaction. Ownership of customers issues. Support as integral part of our account activities. Teaming up with Global Customer Support groups.
  • Responsible for the high-performance execution of our professional services projects, timely support of staffing and scoping requests, working closely together with the EMEA Program Management Team.
  • Ownership of EMEA participation in the AFT program of the “M” Engineering Discipline, with a close collaboration with other regions like NA, India, China and Japan. Work actively with corporate stakeholders to further enhance the products, consulting and training offerings.
  • Building a common approach for customer engagements, application documentation and packaging our offerings. Codifying and sharing best practices (Re-use). Striving for efficiency and excellence.
  • Draws on experience of global teams and forming industry experts across groups and regions. Not allowing “Silo Mentality” between Country, Functions nor Disciplines! Supporting and enabling the other peer EMEA Engineering Discipline Areas.
  • Ensures all team members are elevating ANSYS’ value proposition to new applications which often encompasses its entire suite of products, and clearly differentiate ANSYS as being uniquely qualified to solve such technical challenges.
  • Participates in regular operational, technology and leadership meetings, represents entire “M” Engineering Discipline in EMEA, presenting in AHMs, conferences and customer events.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering, computer science or other technical discipline
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in a High-Tech Engineering Environment.
  • A minimum of 5 years of Leadership experience at ANSYS or other engineering software company involved with technical and customer services and support. Credible experience in developing and delivering hardware and/or software products.
  • Understanding of ANSYS products, technology and how these tools are used by our customers in their product development process.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with Sales, Marketing and Development teams to meet targets.
  • Excellent people management skills including resolving conflict, coaching and developing others, promoting teamwork, and performance management
  • Must have passion and drive for innovation, personal technical excellence and high performance
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as organizational and time management skills, ability to prioritize.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration and coordination with personal distributed across multiple global sites
  • Thorough understanding of the competitive landscape, market trends and customer needs in the application areas of Mechanical/Structural Analysis, Motion, Additive Print, Materials, Mechatronics, Dynamics, Acoustic and adjacencies. Translating these requirements into relevant development initiatives for EMEA Field Engineering.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MS or PhD degree preferred
  • Active ANSYS Employee with respective experiences and insights.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
  • Fluent in English, plus at least one more European language like French or German.
