About Andes Technology

After 16 years effort starting from scratch, Andes Technology Corporation is now a leading embedded processor intellectual property supplier in the world. We devote ourselves in developing high-performance/low-power 32/64 bit processors and their associated SoC platforms to serve the rapidly growing embedded system applications worldwide.

As the features of electronic devices are becoming more and more versatile, customers demand new generations of SoC solutions for better scalability, flexibility, performance, cost and power saving. However, the diversity of emerging consumer market has driven sophisticated design requirement that incurs vital difficulty for traditional component providers to offer cost-effective solution in time.

The innovative configurable platform solution allows Andes’ customers to construct unique system architecture and hardware/software partitioning to gain best optimization in all aspects. With possession of technologies in the areas of processor, system architecture, operating system, software toolchains development, and SoC VLSI implementation, Andes can work closely with customers to shorten their time-to-market with quality design.

Looking into electronic system market with heavy competition, when you plan to build an embedded application system with 32/64-bit processor based SoC, you really shall choose Andes with its high-performance/low-power 32/64-bit processors and associated SoC developing platforms to help your team confidently deliver right product to win competition.

Andes Technology USA Corp., the headquarters of North America operations of Hsinchu, Taiwan-based Andes Technology Corporation, was established in 2015 as a California corporation coincident with Andes Technology Corp. becoming a Founding and Premier Member of RISC-V International. Recognizing that the RISC-V instruction set architecture (ISA) could become a major new product line for the company, the U.S. operation was formed to be nearby early customer adopters of the new ISA. The U.S. subsidiary established an R&D lab shortly thereafter and began developing architectures for the high-end RISC-V processors

Emerson Hsiao, Chief Operating Officer heads the office, located in the heart of Silicon Valley in San Jose.  In June 2018, the U.S. operation added its R&D facility in Portland, Oregon to attract engineers in the Pacific Northwest and Canada. To date, the U.S. operation continues to develop new high-end CPU processor architecture. Its most significant achievement is the development of the first RISC-V vector architecture based on the RISC-V International RVV specification. Developed in under a year the first RISC-V vector architecture was based on version V0.8 of the specification. The Andes engineering team rapidly productized this for a large OEM design win.

Vision

As technology advances, we live in a world that is rapidly changing and growing more connected. People of the global village are brought closer than ever before. While technology has many benefits, it can also lead to negative impacts such as global warming. As a responsible member of the global community, Andes Technology has been devoted itself to the development of energy efficient technology. We envision our high performance/low power processor cores adopted in the diverse embedded  systems, offering resource-conserving and affordable technology solutions to every part of the world and making life better for everyone.

The future of computing is customized compute engines tailored to specific tasks. The Internet of Things, AI, AR/VR, and 5G are the applications driving this direction. Customized extensions are a major element of the modern RISC-V instruction set architecture. At its founding, Andes perfected the technology of quick and efficient design of custom extensions to its proprietary CPU. Shortly after joining RISC-V International as a founding member, we adapted the technology to rapidly launch a series of commercial grade RISC-V CPU cores. Our design innovation enables us to quickly adapt to the rapidly evolving demands of RISC-V customers. With this design know-how, Andes will continue to maintain its market and technology leadership in the RISC-V market and be your trusted processor IP partner.
