Attendance at DAC is up across the board. Not surprisingly, with San Francisco being so close to silicon valley, the biggest increase was in people coming to see the exhibits.
Conference attendees were up to 1901, up 9% on last year. But exhibits only passes were way up to 2783, an increase of 39%. Even booth staff was up 11% to 2704.
The overall increase is 16%. I didn’t have a lot to do with the technical conference (apart from covering the placement competition for the DAC blog) but exhibitors I spoke with seemed very happy with the quality of the attendees. Of course free Monday was far and away the busiest day, but even the final presentations on Wednesday at the booths I walked past were well attended.
Next year DAC is in Austin. Although Austin is an electronics hub it is not as big as silicon valley so I suspect that there will be fewer people who just drop by with an exhibits only pass for Monday.
DAC press release is here.
