Position Summary:

When it comes to marketing the Perforce portfolio, we want technical experts on our team.

As Technical Marketing Engineer, you will use your deep technical knowledge, as well as understanding and connection with our target audience to help define messaging in collaboration with Product Management, provide input on product roadmap, help ensure product-market fit and recommend effective routes-to-market.

The Technical Marketing Engineer creates technical content for both internal and external audiences, including sales & marketing, prospects & customers, partners, analysts, and other industry influencers.

You will also be responsible for thought leadership and evangelism to raise the profile of the company, increase awareness for your brands, and gather market intelligence. This may include presentations at industry events, direct customer interaction, analyst briefings, articles for trade publications, social postings, etc.

You will also interact regularly with our customers and share ‘voice of customer’ information with the broader organization. You will be the expert on our buyers and their buying criteria, and you will transfer that knowledge to the sales and marketing teams. You will also help senior leadership leverage these customer insights to make strategic decisions for the business. This is a highly visible role with the potential to directly impact the success of products in the portfolio.

Ideally, this individual would have previous experience working in semiconductor, electrical engineering and design, or another high-tech industry. Formal experience in product marketing or product management is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop product messaging that educates and increases awareness for our products in the market.
  • Create written technical content, demos, presentations, and associated material to educate the sales team, advance deals, support lead generation campaigns, and the overall marketing content strategy.
  • Interact with customers frequently in the form of case study interviews, surveys, product feedback, win/loss analysis, sales calls, industry event & user group networking, etc.
  • Be a technical evangelist for Perforce and help turn customers into advocates, references, and champions.
  • Achieve defined KPIs for gathering and sharing ‘voice of customer’ insights to the broader organization.
  • Work closely with Product Management on product roadmap strategy.
  • Be an internal beta tester for new product releases and provide feedback on features and usability based on your knowledge of end user needs.
  • Own and drive product launch communications strategy, messaging, and planning.
  • Facilitate regular Sales trainings on product value proposition, new features, market, and competitive landscape.
  • Create & deliver presentations at internal and external events.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related technical field.
  • Experience in customer-facing technical roles, e.g. product marketing, technical marketing, pre-sales, professional services, training or technical support.
  • Previous experience with public presentations and/or authorship of white papers, blogs, articles, etc.
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and develop cross-functional partnerships across Product, Marketing, and Sales leadership.
  • Excellent communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to speak technically with Engineering teams, but also simplify & explain technical concepts for prospects and internal, non-technical team members.
  • Ability to learn and demo Perforce products in person at conferences, on Sales calls, or in webinars.
  • Highly organized individual, able to work in parallel and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • The role will require occasional travel, including internationally, to attend trade shows or customer meetings and visit our various product teams.
