Job Summary:

We are looking for experienced candidates to join multiple disciplines in our STA organization with strong communication, technical knowledge, project management, manufacturing and process quality expertise in component parts production for Chassis, Powertrain (including Electrified Powertrain), Body & Exterior, Stamping, Interior and Electrical/Electronics (including control modules/software) commodities.

What You Will Do:

  • Collaborate on sourcing decision to ensure capable supplier selection utilizing Ford standardized tools in assessing sourcing risks, developing robust industrialization plans to deliver Best In Class Supplier Performance.
  • Engage assigned suppliers in implementation of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) to deliver successful Vehicle and Powertrain launches with robust Production Parts Approval disciplines (PPAP) that meets Program launch milestones requirements.
  •  Manage and escalate supplier progress status following APQP and program launch reporting guidelines.
  • Conduct on-site Supplier Evaluation Visits per Ford Global Product Development System (GPDS) supplier engagement process for new program parts with Ford & Supplier cross functional teams -Drive modular strategies in key commodities like latches and lighting
  • Develop optimized Bill of Process for key commodities
  • Engage Ford/Supplier Cross-Functional teams (Commercial Purchasing, Product Development, Manufacturing, Packaging, etc) in the resolution and escalation of issues affecting Launch Readiness (APQP), Capacity, Quality and Warranty.
  • Drive immediate supplier containment and resolution of quality and capacity issues utilizing disciplined problem solving, lean best practices
  • Pro-actively drive Failure Mode Avoidance through robust execution of Manufacturing Feasibility assessments, PFMEA, Special Characteristics (SCCAF) & Control Plans, Measurement Systems Analysis (GR&R), Capacity Analysis (CAR) reviews, enforcing Health Charts & Manufacturing Process Standards compliance and validation of implementation on supplier’s production/manufacturing floor.
  • Conduct Pre-liminary/Final Design & manufacturing feasibility for body exterior mechanisms, components and systems.
  • Develop STA point of view with Technical Experts and affected regions on Manufacturing feasibility risk assessment and industrialization readiness of new technologies.
  • Track Program timeline through E-APQP including new green file sites & industrialization elements.
  • Drive robust Sourcing Risk Assessments on ESF and Complex commodities, New Parents, New Technology in support of GCST, identifying Risk Mitigation.
  • Develop Industrialization Plans for New Parents, New Technology, and Complex Commodities.
  • Support Global Parent Level Engagement for Key Suppliers, driving Quality, Lean Manufacturing and Systemic Improvements.
  • Provide support to Site STA engaging Supplier’s Global Management Team to address systemic quality, capacity and manufacturing issues.
  • Support the Development and Maintenance of Global Health Charts.
  • Analyze production costs to meet budgets

What You Will Need:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related engineering discipline is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years Manufacturing Engineering experience, preferably in the automotive or leading-edge technology Industry
  • Strong manufacturing background in latches and lighting
  • Knowledge of Purchasing and STA Process and Procedures
  • Knowledge of Problem Solving, Quality tools/techniques and Lean principles
  • Knowledge of manufacturing process(es) of the responsible component commodities
  • Strong Project Management, Continuous Technical & Quality Improvement Mindset, Critical Thinking & Problem Resolution Skills with proven ability to deliver under time constraints.
  • Effective Leader with Collaborative Relationship Building and Communication Skills
  • Listening, Facilitating, Negotiating, Prioritizing and delivering team objectives on time.
  • Ability to develop optimized Bill of Process on specific commodities in order to deliver best cost at Job
  • Experienced in the use of 6-Sigma Quality Tools, G8D Problem Solving, QOS Management, GD&T, Measurement Systems Analysis
