Cloud Application Services (CAS)
MindSphere Quality Validation

As an intern in Cloud Application Development (CAS), you will dive into developing our premiere MindSphere software. The Quality Validation team ensures that the MindSphere platform meets the stated and implied needs (aka Functional and Non-Functional Requirements). They are responsible for developing cutting-edge automation strategies to ensure that every change to the platform is swiftly and automatically validated. The team maintains an “end-user view” of the platform and triages all the feedback coming from the production environments. You will partner with multiple teams within an agile scrum development environment and have the opportunity to learn directly from senior engineers. You will assist on project teams related to:

  • Defining, planning, implementing, and operating validation processes that meet or exceed the service level agreement and CI/CD objectives.
  • Write & maintain automated tests in Java, Python and other languages with a focus on speed of execution, minimal false failures and zero manual intervention
  • Develop & maintain the load profiles in collaboration with Product Management and Architecture and build and execute NFR tests to validate the load profiles
  • Plan and execute Chaos Tests and Gameday Tests

Organization Requirements:

  • Studying for a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in: CS, CE, IS, IT, or related field
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as: Java, C++, C#, Scala, Python
  • It is highly desirable that the candidate possess one or more of the following:

o   AWS / Azure Experience

o   One or more years in designing, developing and deploying cloud based solution using AWS or Azure

o   Understanding of core AWS/Azure services, uses, and basic architecture best practices

  • Experience in software development, with experience in one or more areas:

o   Solid Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, and problem solving

o   Define, design and deliver a distributed automation platform for compute, storage, database, queuing and other infrastructure

o   Understanding – web service development

  • Proactive business skills and strong collaborative skills are required.

o   Self-Directed, High Energy

o   Ability to work well with a team in a fast paced agile development environment.

o   Excellent oral/written communication & listening skills will be necessary to present information, analysis & recommendations to all levels of employees, including senior engineers and managers.

IoT Platform

As part of our MindSphere IoT Platform development group, you will accelerate development of platform as service. MindSphere is the open, cloud-based IoT operating system from Siemens that lets you connect your machines and physical infrastructure to the digital world. It lets you harness big data from billions of intelligent devices, enabling you to uncover transformational insights across your entire business. In this group you will help define new approaches and create fresh functionality. Your responsibility will be to engage in one of our innovative teams by:

  • Designing and developing micro service for MindSphere platform
  • Creating tools, utilities and script development for automation
  • Diving into requirements definition, in-depth analysis, and code implementation
  • Working in the Agile development methodology
  • Validating software quality through unit testing, writing automated tests, and bug fixing

Organizational Requirements:

  • Studying for a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in: CS, CE, IS, IT, or related field
  • Computer Security background preferred
  • AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure experience a plus
  • Python, PERL, Dash, etc. – scripting for automation
  • Splunk experience a plus
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Linux background also helpful
