R&D Engineer II

SUMMARY
The R&D Engineer II contributes to the development of software products and supporting systems. In this role, the R&D Engineer II will collaborate with a team of expert professionals on research and development of artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) capabilities in Ansys optics and photonics software products.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs research and development on AI/ML algorithms applied to optics and photonics applications including prototype and production code development.
- Performs moderately complex development activities, including the design, implementation, maintenance, testing and documentation of software modules and sub-systems.
- Understands and employs best practices.
- Performs bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products.
- Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions.
- Works under the general supervision of a development manager.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- BS in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 2 years’ experience or MS.
- Working experience with AI/ML algorithms and toolkits.
- Basic knowledge of optics and/or photonics.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated success in applying AI/ML concepts in engineering or simulation calculations.
- Working knowledge of one or more AI/ML toolkits such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, JAX, etc.
- Programming skills in Python or C++.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team.
