Summary / Role Purpose

The R&D Engineer will be in an integrated and dynamic Mechanics Business Unit (MBU) product creation team, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining state of art capabilities in structural Finite Elements and advanced simulation procedures.

The R&D Engineer contributes to the development of software products and supporting systems. In this role, the R&D Engineer will collaborate with a team of expert professionals to accomplish development objectives.

In specific, s/he will work on expanding Data Processing Framework capabilities to allow post-processing of advanced MAPDL capabilities (e.g. coupled field, remeshing, …) and all available element types at solver level.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs basic development activities, including the design, implementation, maintenance, testing and documentation of software modules and sub-systems.
  • Learns and employs best practices.
  • Performs basic complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products.
  • Investigates problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions.
  • Works under the general supervision of a development manager

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • Required Minimum Years of Professional Experience: BS in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or related field
  • Working experience with software design and development and numerical simulation
  • Good knowledge in C++ and Python

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience with object-oriented design, scripting languages, data structures and algorithms
  • Passion for crafting robust and efficient code.
  • Basic understanding of the software development process
  • Understanding of customer requirements and tools used in this domain.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with physics simulations, computer aided design or similar
  • Commercial experience of software packages with finite element analysis or other numerical analysis software.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a geographically distributed team.
  • Linux experience is desirable.
