Will Retail Automate?

Arthur Hanson

Well-known member
Automation of warehouses and retail offer some of the greatest opportunities for leveraging resources of time, space and productivity. If combined with autonomous transport/delivery the time, money and resources changes would be staggering. Converting just a significant portion of retail for business to automation would save a staggering amount of time and resources. AI/ML will make this possible, it's just a matter of who makes the first steps in this direction. Semis and AI/ML will make all this possible. The savings in time, real estate, power and lowering shrink would be staggering for both the companies and their customers. There is no reason much of the supply chain could become essentially giant vending machines. The savings from reduced shrink, less real-estate, time and power would be staggering. Already we are seeing the first steps in this direction with automated cube warehouses in Europe. Could this come to be? Any thoughts or comments appreciated. Semis will make this possible at every step.
