Job Summary:

Our client in Chicago, IL is looking for a Product Engineer Body. This is a contract position.

What You Will Do:

Plant Vehicle Team (PVT) Engineer is a member of our client’s Product Development organization, co-located at the Chicago Assembly Plant (CAP) along with the Operations team. The PVT Engineer at Chicago is ‘first line of defense’ with regards to Quality for  products produced at CAP. The PVT Engineer has several responsibilities associated with analyzing and improving the Quality of the vehicles.

  • Review incoming warranty claims data on a daily basis, review customer and dealership comments, bin claims into proper binning categories, contact dealership/s for parts and repair diagnoses, participate in customer call back to ensure proper understanding of customer feedback, review returned parts for root cause analysis and develop Interim Containment and Permanent Corrective Actions.
  • Support assembly plant with Stop Ships/Stop Builds, Campaigns, Audits, Root Cause Analyses and other Quality related tasks.
  • Lead engineering commodity changes for future minor product launches and lead cost reduction actions in current production vehicles.
  • Support Variability Reduction Team (VRT) for specific sub-systems and work closely with Supplier partners for subsystem components to address quality concerns.
  • Lead engineering trials and the implementation of running changes for the sub-system.
  • Issue engineering Alerts and initiate & pursue authorization of engineering Concerns for product changes to support Quality objectives.
  • Engage technical experts and functional team members for driving resolution and in developing corrective actions to improve product Quality.
  • Maintain sub-system or Vehicle Functional Group (VFG) level Quality documents (SAQ, Top 20 concerns).
  • Make presentations to various levels of upper management (weekly VRT report out, Vehicle Quality Reviews, Engineering Managers reviews).

Please note these specific positions are in Body Interior and Body Exterior functions.

Basics:

  • Bachelor In Engineering.
  • Engineering Problem Solving.
  • 6-sigma Tools.
  • Statistics.
  • CAD.
  • 2-6 years experience.

Preferred:

  • Master in Engineering.
