Job Summary:

Our client in Chelsea, MI is looking for a Powertrain Process Engineer. This is a contract position.

What You Will Do:

The ISO Quality Engineer is a key position within the Process Applications and Methods group that is responsible for the Powertrain Controls Process. The group is responsible to define, implement and support process improvement initiatives throughout Powertrain Controls areas including: Systems, Controls, Software, Calibration, Test and Release. Typical Duties of this position include: Gathering stakeholder requirements and translating those requirements into best practice processes. Support new process development, implementation and audit of required processes into corporate tools (ie. Stages, ALM). Ensure alignment between internal and external stakeholders via the appropriate application and reinforcement of defined processes, leading joint reviews, conducting gap analysis, etc. Optimizing interfaces between areas within Powertrain Controls and Corporate processes. Provide coaching, mentoring and training on process throughout Powertrain Controls. Conduct and present analysis of project and organizational performance against defined processes and continue optimization of current processes. Support project coordination and process consultant activities within the project teams.

Basics:

  • BS degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent Engineering discipline o Other Bachelor Degree with Engineering minor with sufficient work experience my also be considered
  • Exposure to ISO Certification processes and requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in automotive testing, preferably experience with Vehicle or Engine Emissions testing equipment, including chassis dynamometers, analyzers, instrumentation, sampling systems, data acquisition (National Instrument Devices), PLCs, and Diesel/GDI Particulate Sampling.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and G Suite.
  • Ability to understand, interpret and analyze data with attention to details.
  • Must be a team player with ability to work with diverse group of engineers, supervisors, and UAW personnel.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple jobs and projects simultaneously.
  • Analytical skills with a focus on root cause analysis.
  • Self-motivated with good communication skills.

Preferred:

  • MS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience working in a testing lab with vehicle or engine emissions testing equipment, including dynamometers, analyzers, instrumentation, sampling systems, data acquisition and Diesel/GDI Particulate Sampling.
  • Familiar with ETAS/INCA and experience using HORIBA analyzer bench software.
  • Experience with PEMS and RDE certification, LDV knowledge, data post processing and analysis.
  • Familiar with particulate measurement.
  • 5+ years of engine test support with an emphasis on test cell instrumentation & facility systems.
  • Prior project management training or experience.
