The salary range for this position will be between $100,000 to $150,000 annually inclusive of applicable bonuses and is commensurate with experience. Samtec is looking for an OPTICS QUALITY MANAGER to join our team in Colorado Springs.

Summary/Objective: The overall responsibility of the Optics Quality Manager will be to develop and implement quality management systems in a manner which fosters a culture of continuous improvement within the entire organization.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Implement robust quality systems in a highly complex microelectronics manufacturing environment.
  • Responsible for the quality activities across all sites involved in Optics Design, Development, and Manufacturing.
  • Oversee the customer, manufacturing, and supplier quality activities in the Optics product segment and ensure alignment with corporate goals.
  • Partner with other disciplines such as Product, Process, Manufacturing, and Test Engineering to drive DFM and continuous improvement efforts to meet customer expectations.
  • Customer Quality: Partner with Customer Quality Engineering (CQE) on root cause investigation of quality issues and implementation of corrective actions and product/process improvements through preventive actions.
  • Lead and/or participate in customer audits as needed.
  • Oversee and partner with Manufacturing Quality Engineering (MQE) on quality improvement projects, root cause investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Supplier Quality: Oversee and partner with Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) to drive improvements with critical suppliers and contract manufacturers.
  • Ensure proper documentation of processes exists and is being followed.
  • Act as site lead auditor, following up on corporate audit schedule, completion and reports review from other internal auditors as needed. Provide full support during external audit process.
  • Partner with Engineering and Operations to form a cohesive team, quick to solve issues. Drive Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) efforts and oversee implementation of controls and metrics.
  • Work to sustain and improve quality management systems of ISO-9001, AS9100, ISO13485, and other standards as applicable.
  • Travel occasionally to other domestic and international Optics-related manufacturing sites.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years in Quality Management.
  • Operations/Manufacturing Management is a must.
  • Experience in a semiconductor manufacturing, assembly of integrated circuits, or electronics manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts is preferred.
  • Quality certification (CQM, CQE, or related) is desirable.
  • Must be knowledgeable on relevant Quality Standards: ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100, ISO 13485, and ISO 14001.

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related discipline.
