Summary of Role:

GLOBALFOUNDRIES is looking for skilled General Machinist with Welding experience to work in the facilities organization.  Correct candidate will poses general machining skills and programming (using Solid works / HSM works), setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine, milling machines, lathes sheet metal skills a plus. Individual will  maintain, all quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies. May train new employees and other technical personnel in the maintenance of tool systems. Candidate will perform various repairs or builds using Tig Welding and be responsible for part quality/dimensions. Perform typical Weld set-ups and fixturing to support the semiconductor industry, maintain the work area and equipment in clean orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.   Technicians must be able to work in a team environment with a focus on customer satisfaction.  Strong communication skills and schedule flexibility are important as weekend coverage will be required.  Work Schedule is day shift with overtime as needed and emergency call in’s 

Essential Responsibilities:

    • Proficient in CAD CAM
    • General Machinist with NC skills
    • Operation of lathes, drill presses, sawing, milling machines and grinders will be examined. Content will also include theory of cutting angles, tool and cutter selection, cutting speeds and feeds, coolants, industrial safety, use of bench and layout tools, measuring instruments, gauges and various inspection practices, along with basic drawings

 

  • Sheet Metal fabrication.

 

  • Press Brake operation.
  • Proficient in Tig welding operation with material aluminum and stainless steel. Use of basic machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, drill presses and precision measurement equipment micrometer, verniers ,etc)
  • Setup, and safe use of hand tools and manual machine tools in the basic phases of metal working.
  • Must be able to perform but not limited to the following tasks: turning, drilling, taping, de-burring and all bench operations and inspections.
  • Knowledge of standard machine shop equipment and processes.
  • Familiarity with basic machine functions.
  • Setup, and safe use of hand tools and manual machine tools in the basic phases of metal working.
  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs

Required Qualifications: 

  • Education:  Recently graduated or about to graduate from a Technical/Associates Degree in Science, Engineering, Semi-Conductor Manufacturing or a related discipline.
  • Experience:  4-5 years of relevant experience
  • Must be able to perform shift work on a 8 hour schedule
  • Able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds on a periodic basis throughout the shift (preventive maintenance) and/or process issues ability to perform work in a standing position for majority of a 8 hour shift (excluding breaks)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Semiconductor experience.
  • HVAC & Electrical experience
