Job Description

Samtec is seeking an Electrical Engineering Co-op within the Signal Integrity Group (SIG) RF Hub at Samtec’s Chandler, AZ location. Please only apply if you are a student currently enrolled and pursuing a degree in Engineering or a related field at a local University.

The schedule would be a minimum of twenty hours per week. Hours may vary but are flexible, ideally support is needed from M-F 8AM – 6PM. Pay is $22.00 per hour. Co-ops are eligible to participate in our student program for tuition assistance. They may also opt to participate in Samtec’s 401k plan.

Responsibilities of this role include:

•Utilize standard techniques and methods in modeling, design, and measurement and recommend changes in designs or technical procedures

•Design of PCB including construction, coax, microstrip, stripline and transitions.

•Participate in multifunctional team(s) per the priorities set by engineering management.

•Perform empirical and analytical RF evaluations of products, provide input to design, create electrical product models and generate documentation.

Ideal candidates are self-starters who demonstrate exemplary written and verbal communication skills. They excel in a dynamic environment and can problem solve, efficiently, creatively, and with fine attention to detail.

Below is a list of preferred qualifications and skills:

•Student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.

•Availability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week during regular business hours while maintaining a full-time course load.

•Preferred commitment to 3 semesters.

•Preferred courses in EM field and transmission line theories and how they apply to design.

•Preferred use of commercial 3D field solvers such as HFSS or CST.

•Familiarity with PCB design manufacturing techniques is a plus.

•Must be able handle multiple projects simultaneously as priorities can change very quickly

•Must be able to effectively communicate with multidisciplinary engineering groups & members of management.

•Co-ops are required to maintain a C grade or above in all courses to maintain status in the program.

•Samtec is an ITAR facility and all applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S. on an unrestricted basis.
