Role summary 

The Application Engineer II is responsible for leveraging domain knowledge and systems engineering background to help customers realize digital transformation through Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Practices, and support the regional accounts with significant impact on software revenue.

The role encompasses engaging in presale activities to support sales campaigns, delivering professional services to support software growth, providing technical support of our customers, and helping translate customer requirements into exciting new product features.

Key Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Lead/Assist in coordinating and executing all MBSE & Engineering workflow development activities throughout the sales opportunity such as customer meetings and product presentations, demonstrations, and evaluations.
  • Create and demonstrate Process Integration and Design Optimization workflows by tool chaining Ansys products as well as third party products.
  • Work with different industries segments to create Reference Implementation of Digital Thread Engineering workflow from Stakeholder needs all the way to prognostics in field operation.
  • Create multi-fidelity solutions across different tools and their interconnection.
  • Participate and present ANSYS simulation solution suites for different applications and publish papers in technical events.
  • Own the customer problems, proactively engage with selected accounts to provide comprehensive solutions. Contribute to all technical activities throughout the sales opportunity lifecycle, interact with customers to understand their product design needs and engineering design workflows and articulate Ansys’ value proposition.
  • Instruct introductory and/or intermediate training classes and contribute to the delivery of professional services for projects which might include collaborative work with other field engineers in the same or different disciplines.
  • Gather customer requirements to support the improvement of Ansys software and collaborate with the Ansys product development teams to translate customer requirements into new product capabilities. Test new releases on industrial problems.
  • Participates in internal corporate initiatives to share knowledge and to create best practices, inside the discipline and cross-disciplines.
  • Develop simulation best practices, solutions, FAQs for knowledge base

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience 

  • Required education and degree type: Bachelors or Master’s in Mechanical/Chemical/Aerospace/Electrical Engineering/Computer Science or related field
  • Required minimum years of professional experience in relevant engineering domain: 2 years for Bachelors
  • Must have excellent analytical skills, ability to understand engineering processes and tools to architect System Engineering workflows.
  • Must have good understanding of System engineering and workflows
  • Logical problem-solving approach and the ability to clearly communicate the situation and proposed solution to the customer.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to facilitate and conduct webinars and presentations to customers.
  • Strong knowledge of any one PIDO or MDAO tool (optiSLang, HEEDS, ModelCenter, ISight)
  • Demonstrated use of relevant Ansys software or knowledge of other commercial CAE, CAD, EDA, PLM software packages
  • Ability to work on multiple projects which are complex in nature
  • Demonstrated skills in writing and presenting in fluent English
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of time

Preferred Qualifications and Skills 

  • Preferred professional experience in relevant engineering domain of 5 years for Bachelors or 3 years for Masters
  • Knowledge of system architecture authoring tools using SysML (or other) language.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand business requirements and translate these into an execution plan that delivers value and meets business goals.
  • Must have hands-on experience in at least one Scripting language like C#/Java, Python, VBScript, etc.
  • Experience on the use of CAD software is a plus.
