- The Failure Analysis department is critical to supporting and accelerating Pragmatic to achieve its technology goals.
- We are seeking an enthusiastic and adaptable individual with high attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills to join our growing team.
- As a Failure Analysis Technician, your role within the growing department will be to perform failure analysis, root cause analysis and characterization on FlexIC products, working alongside engineers to provide results across all areas of the business including production, process development and customer returns.
- Reporting directly to the FA Manager, this is a hands-on role with many opportunities to make an immediate impact within the department and the business.
Key tasks
- Shift working to support activities within the Failure Analysis department.
- Perform sample preparation for destructive failure analysis including cutting, embedding and mechanical polishing.
- Perform fault localisation and physical failure analysis such as broad beam and focused ion beam milling.
- Perform electron microscopy imaging of defectivity and product characterisation for reliability, yield, process development and customer return activities.
- Participate and support engineering activity enabling development of new failure analysis techniques and improvement to instruments and processes.
- Perform routine calibration, alignments and preventative maintenance on FA instruments.
- Establish and maintain safe working practises within the laboratory.
- Execute basic troubleshooting of instruments and processes.
Qualifications and training
- The successful candidate will hold GCSE A*-C or equivalent in English, Maths and Science.
- A qualification of Level 3 or above in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline is desirable but not essential.
- The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience working in a scientific or engineering field.
- Experience working in Failure Analysis or Quality role would be advantageous.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well independently and in a diverse team environment.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions precisely.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.
- High attention to detail.
- Willingness to work in fast paced environment.
- High aptitude using Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience working in Failure Analysis or Quality role.
- Experience using optical microscopes and using scanning electron microscope is preferred although not essential.
- Experience working with chemicals and maintaining a laboratory is desired.
