Senior Mechatronics Engineer – Flexible IC’s
Website Pragmatic
Overview
Pragmatic is a world leader in semiconductor innovation, revolutionising semiconductor fabrication with ultra-low-cost, flexible integrated circuit (FlexIC) technology that makes it quick and easy to embed intelligence almost anywhere. Our revolutionary technology uses thin-film semiconductors to create flexible integrated circuits that are thinner than a human hair, and are significantly cheaper and faster to produce than silicon chips. With rapid cycle times that substantially accelerate time to market, our foundry provides high-volume fabrication at a fraction of the cost of silicon, and with significantly lower environmental impact. Our vision is a world where everyone, everywhere will touch our technology throughout their everyday lives. We are a team of passionately innovative people designing and manufacturing products that solve a range of global problems encountered every day, with our core values truly embedded in all our business processes and decisions. Pragmatic is headquartered in Cambridge, UK, with our first fab operating in Sedgefield, and a second fab at our new 15-acre Pragmatic Park site in Durham.
As a result of an internal promotion, we are on the search for an individual to apply mechanical and electronics expertise in designing and developing bespoke test fixtures/rigs/bespoke machines to meet engineering requirements for our range of Flex IC’s. You are taking the design through from concept drawings to build, commissioning and sign-off.
You shall be working with internal teams/program managers to define the fixtures/rigs/bespoke machines requirements and plan the timing & build rigs. Throughout the planning and build phase, you will regularly update the relevant stakeholder to ensure that the projects are delivered on time to the project’s scheduled milestones. You will be responsible for all documentation related to your projects, such as SOPs, Risk assessments.
When it is impossible to build a project in-house, you will work with suppliers to specify and oversee the manufacturing (prototype and production) and testing of prototyping hardware.
The ideal candidate should have experience in mentoring apprentices, technicians & engineers, offering guidance on mechanical design, PCB design and automation. The ability to explain complex concepts clearly and inspire professional growth is essential for this role.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Design & build Probe Heads, jigs & fixtures
- Troubleshoot faults on electromechanical fixtures
- Writing SOP, machine/process risk assessments
- Work with teams across Technology and Operations to understand their hardware needs and work to address them.
- Fully document projects through their development: Requirements, Specifications, Verification, Validation, Operation, Safety.
