As an intern at GF, you’ll experience one-on-one mentorship, work assignments that prioritize your growth and potential, professional development opportunities, and the chance to network with executives.

Summary of Role:

GlobalFoundries Fab 8 is seeking junior or senior level students to support the 300mm semiconductor manufacturing in Yield Integration Engineering department specifically for Electrical Characterization Team. The Electrical Characterization team is responsible for

  • Electrical characterization of semiconductor devices and health-of-line electrical test structures (HOL) to sustain volume production, disposition of production materials, and electrical test
  • Support general and urgent fab operation issues
  • Review ET (electrical test), Health of Line (HOL) and inline statistical process control (SPC), analyze sources of variation, improve line control, and transistor variability
  • Also, work with customers on ET (trend reporting, targeting, Cpk/variability)
  • Electrical analysis of controlled process changes for device, defectively and yield improvements

Essential Responsibilities include:

  • Learn Basic Silicon FinFET front-end-of-line (FEOL) and back-end-of-line process (BEOL) fabrication flow, key electrical parameters and their measurement conditions and control specifications
  • Learn in-house and standard data analysis tools to characterize FinFET device and Copper BEOL electrical parameters, their trend and variations in volume production against the process and physical measurement parameter variations
  • Develop a standard list of analysis, shortcuts, and Device versus Process parameters correlations to troubleshoot and find root cause of FinFET device and BEOL electrical parameters of production material deviating from controlled specifications
  • Support development and installation of new transistor and process variants
  • Learn on SPC, DOE, Yield analysis tools, Lot management systems, etc. Work on continuous improvement projects to improve ET line yield and Cpk
  • Support Engineering teams on manufacturing ramp, cost reduction, etc
  • Complete semiconductor fundamental course work
  • Have good communication Skill

Other Responsibilities:

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Senior Years in College, pursuing BS, MS and Ph-D degree in Science, Math, Engineering, Semiconductor Manufacturing or a related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent structured problem solving and knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Lab or pre-professional experience in semiconductor processing
  • Understanding and knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and/or Design of Experiments (DOE)
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with diverse teams, customers, as well as internal and external partners
  • Industrial Experience is a plus
