Toshiba plans to split into three after the scandal wave

Another aging company to be "reorganized". This is why I spent the majority of my career with start up companies. Imagine the frustration of the career employees over the years and the wasted time and money. Mind boggling.


On Friday, Toshiba outlined plans to split into three companies to appease activist shareholders seeking a radical overhaul of the Japanese conglomerate after a long scandal.

Toshiba’s dissolution, a rare move in a conglomerate-controlled country, announced that the same week, US industrial power General Electric would call its vast empire time and Johnson & Johnson would split.

Founded in 1875, Toshiba plans to house the energy and infrastructure divisions in one company, with the hard disk drive and power semiconductor businesses forming the backbone of another company. One-third will manage Toshiba’s stake in flash memory chip company Kioxia Holdings and other assets...
